Allure Designs in Beauty

Our mission is to provide exemplary services through a passion for styling and fashion, helping our guests to live beautifully, head to toe. Put yourself in the hands of beauty experts who bring the creative spark of passionate artists, and offer the integrity of experienced professionals.

For over 20 years, Allure has been in the business of making clients look and feel their best — and we’re always evolving. In 2012, we moved to our current space in downtown Libertyville. What began as a small hair and nail studio is now a full service salon and retail boutique, showcasing an extensive collection of fashion accessories, clothing, and gifts.

Allure won multiple industry awards in 2012, 2015, and 2016. In 2016, we were voted one of the top 200 salons in the United States by Salon Today magazine for excellence in Salon Culture, Employee Compensation & Benefits, and Customer Service. Allure also won the award for Best Window Displays in the town of Libertyville in 2012, as well as 1st place for Parade Float in 2012. 

Beauty in Community

Allure supports local artisans, and we choose products from companies who care about our environment. Our suppliers are leaders in using renewable energy sources and working with recycled materials.

We’re involved with the local community, and we take every opportunity to give back. The Allure team participated in the Relay for Life walk, raising money for the American Cancer Society. We set aside funds every year to donate products and services to our clients’ charities as a way of thanking them for choosing Allure.

We attract outstanding Chicagoland talent by creating an environment full of creativity, laughter, and support. We retain that talent by operating responsibly as a profit-sharing company, and offering our employees full benefits — including health insurance, retirement savings, and paid time away for illness and vacation.

Our stylists know what they’re doing, and they know there’s always more to learn. Our unique in-house education program offers weekly, monthly, and quarterly workshops that keep us on top of the latest styles, products, and techniques. Our technicians receive continued training at Aveda Advanced Academy in Chicago, and find fresh inspiration by regularly attending the city’s best hair shows.

About Shelly

Shelly Malizola

Owner Shelly Malizola opened Allure in 1996 with two partners. With support from a dedicated staff and fantastic clients, she has grown the business into a thriving salon and boutique. Shelly is passionate about the beauty industry, and believes success in it requires true professionalism, advanced artistic skill, continued education, and staff who know they are supported and valued.

Shelly is a member of the Chicago Cosmetology Association and the Professional Beauty Association. She is involved with many networking groups for salons and small business owners, and serves on the advisory board for several cosmetology schools in the area. Away from Allure, Shelly enjoys fitness, gardening, decorating, reading, and traveling. She is married and has a daughter.
